Toyota hybrids can operate in electric-only mode, gas-mode only, or a seamless combination of both. It all happens automatically, without the need for driver input. The result? A powertrain that produces up to 70% less smog forming emissions than conventional gas engines and diesels – without sacrificing performance or ever needing to plug-in.
- STARTING UP – The vehicle normally “starts up” in hybrid mode, conserving fuel
- ACCELLERATING – A seamless transfer of hybrid and gas engine power the vehicle and drives normally
- BRAKING – The electric motor takes over and converts the energy of deceleration to help recharge the hybrid battery
