The 2018 Toyota Camry: Better in Every Single Way

The 2018 Toyota Camry is completely redesigned, and the 8th-generation of Toyota’s popular midsize sedan promises to offer everything buyers love about the Camry, but with a bit more personality when it comes to driving dynamics.

When Akio Toyoda took the stage at this year’s North American International Auto Show, you knew that the model he was about to unveil was going to be big. Very big. After all, the CEO of Toyota doesn’t just present any new model. In this case, he was there to welcome the all-new 2018 Toyota Camry, a vehicle that we will be getting sometime towards the end of summer, and one of the most important vehicles offered by Toyota.

2018 Toyota Camry: same refinement but with more bite

The 2018 Toyota Camry is completely redesigned, and the 8th-generation of Toyota’s popular midsize sedan promises to offer everything buyers love about the Camry, but with a bit more personality when it comes to driving dynamics.

Built on Toyota’s Global Architecture, the 2018 Camry features a lower driving position, and improved chassis and a re-tuned suspension that will spice things up on a winding road. The interior has been fully revamped and now features a more driver-centric center console, even more tech features, and it even has red leather for the interior of the sportiest Camry, the XSE model.

Under the hood, buyers get a much-improved version of the current 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which is now paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission rather than a six-speed gearbox like in the current Camry. The 3.5-liter V6 engine will also be offered, as will the hybrid engine for those that want the very best fuel economy numbers.

In terms of design, the fact that you will be able to order a two-tone finish for your Camry’s exterior says a lot about the direction Toyota is going with their Camry. Overall, the design is much more aggressive and noticeable than the outgoing model. It retains the current Camry’s class and sophistication, but it adds a bit more overall flavor.

Standard safety for the 2018 Toyota Camry

The 2018 Toyota Camry will be more fun to drive and a lot more dynamic, but it will also be safer thanks to Toyota’s Safety Sense P suite of active safety systems, which will be standard on the new midsize sedan. This means that you get pre-collision warning system with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assist, dynamic cruise control and automatic headlights, all at no extra charge on every version of the 2018 Toyota Camry.

We are not quite sure about pricing yet, but we will know more as we get closer to the 2018 Toyota Camry’s summer launch date.
